Get more out of Fergus than Fergus does on its own.
Fergus runs your jobs well. WorkArc builds the quoting, sales, job margin and reporting system on top of it, for established trade businesses whose teams and tools have outgrown working it out between them.
What does Fergus do well?
Fergus is a very good job management system. For most trade businesses we work with, it’s already the centre of the operation.
Fergus keeps jobs, quotes, scheduling, timesheets and invoicing in one place, with a solid link to Xero. Its price books, quote templates and quote reminders cover a lot of what a growing business needs, and the Fergus Go app gets the crew logging time and notes from site. If you run it properly, it replaces the whiteboard, the spreadsheet and most of the paperwork.
Where does Fergus stop?
Fergus organises the work. On its own, it doesn’t do the work that sits around it, and that is where the time goes between sales, estimating, the site and the office.
- 01
It stores the price book; it doesn’t build the quote.
Your estimator or QS still turns site notes into line items, quantities, labour and margin. On a multi-scope outdoor job that is 45 to 90 minutes each, and the quote queue backs up behind them.
- 02
It sends the quote; it doesn’t work the pipeline.
Quote reminders help with the routine nudge. What it doesn’t give you is one place showing every open quote and lead, what each one needs next, with Fergus and your CRM kept in step.
- 03
It records hours; it doesn’t tell you a job is slipping.
Seeing hours logged against hours allowed on every scope, while the job is still running, usually means building reports nobody has time for.
- 04
It connects to Xero; the rest is up to you.
The accounting link is solid. The CRM, messages, calendars and client updates around it are where the retyping still happens.
What does WorkArc build on Fergus?
A system built around how you already use Fergus. It reads from Fergus, writes back to it, and keeps getting better every month.
- ArcQuoteDescribe the job, and a priced, itemised quote built from your own price book lands in Fergus as line items, with the client description written.→
- ArcChaseEvery open Fergus quote and every CRM lead in one sales view, with the next step ready and both systems kept up to date.→
- ArcPulseHours logged in Fergus against hours allowed on every scope, flagged while there’s still time to act, with the job pack ready for what’s next.→
- ArcPortalA branded page for each client, built from Fergus job stages and site notes, with the Friday update written for you.→
- ArcSyncFergus, Xero, your CRM, email and calendars on one record, so a won quote becomes the job without anyone retyping it.→
- ArcReportThe week tracked from Fergus and Xero: proposals, pipeline, work in progress and cash, in front of you every Monday.→
Wherever you are with Fergus.
Built for established trade and outdoor-construction businesses, typically turning over $3m to $10m. Where we start depends on how far into Fergus you are.
- 01New to Fergus
We set it up properly first.
Price book, job stages, timesheets and the Xero link, done right from day one. Clean data from the start makes everything built on top of it work better.
- 02Running Fergus
We build on what’s there.
Your jobs and quotes are already in Fergus. We tidy what needs it, then build the quoting, sales view and job tracking around how you use it.
- 03Growing team, disconnected tools
Everyone works from the same picture.
Sales, estimating, project managers and the office each have their own spreadsheet and their own version of the job. The system joins them up, so handovers stop losing things and nobody re-keys what someone else already entered.
Fergus, answered.
The questions we get asked before a call.
Do we have to leave Fergus?
No. Fergus stays where your jobs, quotes and time live. WorkArc builds the system on top of it and writes back to it, so your team keeps working the way it does now.
Is WorkArc a Fergus consultant?
In the sense that we know Fergus well and build around how you use it, yes. But we don’t just set up Fergus features: we build the quoting, sales, margin and reporting systems Fergus doesn’t do on its own, and keep improving them every month.
We’ve only just started on Fergus. Is this for us?
Yes. We spend the first part setting Fergus up properly: price book, job stages, timesheets and the Xero link. Starting with clean data is a head start, because everything built on top of it works better.
Does it work with Xero and our CRM too?
Yes. Fergus and Xero are the core, and the system connects to the CRM and tools around them, including HarperPlus, HubSpot, Gmail and Slack. If a tool has an open API, we connect it.
What does it cost to find out?
A thirty-minute call. We look at how you run Fergus today and where the time and margin go, and tell you straight what we’d build first.
